Buccaneers Bye Week Recap Empty Buccaneers Bye Week Recap

    Post by G Waffle19 Fri Nov 04, 2016 5:54 pm

Season 2 begins, and the Buccaneers have gone thru a lot of changes in just one season.  Gone from the team are the follow players

    QB - Jameis Winston
    RB - Doug Martin
    WR - Mike Evans
    DT - Gerald McCoy
    LB - Lavonte David
    CB - Vernon Hargreaves

pretty much any player that you would have wanted when you would have taken over the Buccaneers are gone.  And in their place are a bunch of players that Coach G Waffle just enjoys, and are mostly Steelers, from his Pittsburgh roots.

QB - Rainey Lucas, Jeff Skool - both drafted
RB - Monte Pressley, a troubled youth who was ruled ineligible for the draft by the commissioner due to a pending gambling investigation, but was cleared after draft, and hit free agency
WR - Jordan Matthews - a staple on G Waffles Eagles team last madden
WR - Sammie Coates - i like him
DL - Cam Heyward - Steeler
DL - Ndamukong Suh - come on, it is Suh
LB - Terrell Suggs - I know Van, makes me throw up too
LB - Bud Dupree - Steeler
CB - Justin Gilbert - 1st round talent, and short time Steeler

These new crop of players are hoping to make many forget the crazy moves that the GM did during the year last year and this past offseason.

So far, thru 4 weeks, the Buccaneers record is 2-2, they lost the first 2 against division rivals, but won the next 2 vs the far inferior AFC teams than NFC teams.

    Week 1 recap

The Saints came out and thrashed the Bucs 45-7.  Rainey Lucas looked like a rookie going 14-24 for 214 yard 1 TD 5 Ints.  This gives the Saints 16 interceptions in 3 games against the Buccaneers.  RB Monte Pressley fumbled on his first career carry and finished with just 9 carries for 54 yards.  All in all, a game to forget, and I mostly did, because I think I was drunk anyway

    Week 2 recap

The Falcons jumped up early, and by a lot, and held off the second half charge by the Bucs.  QB Lucas started the game, but was benched at half time after going 6 for 12 for 102 yard and 3 interceptions.  He was relieved in the 2nd half by fellow rookie QB Julius Skool.  Skool came in and lit up the Falcons going 12 of 15 for 213 yards 3 TD's and 1 int.  This performance earned him the started nod in the next week agains the Jets.  Monte Pressley started getting his legs under him, rushing 27 times for 105 yards and 1 TD, but it still wasn't enough as the Falcons won 40-31.

    Week 3 recap

Julius Skool gets his first career start, and doesn't make it out of the first quarter.  He goes 1 for 4 for 8 yards and 2 Ints, and in comes Rainey Lucas to lead the Bucs back against the Jets, who jumped up 7-0.  Lucas came in and went 12-16 for 220 yards 1 TD and 1 Int, but this game was won by RB Monte Pressley.  Pressley ran the ball 24 times for 167 and 3 TDs.  The Bucs got on top of the Jets, and didn't let up, winning 31-10

    Week 4 recap

Rainey Lucas is again the starter, and finishes his 2nd game as a starter.  Not a stellar day by Lucas, as he went 12 for 18 for 148 1 TD and 1 Int, and RB Pressley had his 3rd start 100 yard game, carrying it 18 times for 115 yards and 1 TD.  This game was won by the Bucs on defense.  Holding the Pats to 17 total yards rushing.  As well as getting a pick 6 from Justin Gilbert, as well as other INTs from Josh Robinson, Tyler Matakevich, and DeAngelo Ruff.  The Bucs jumped up early, forcing the Pats to pass, and playing a bend don't break defense, waiting for the Pats to make a mistake.

All of this adds up to a 2-2 record for the Bucs.  They have the Panthers following the bye week, who is yet another division rival.  The Bucs are feeling good about both their offense and defense, and look to build off of their performances the last 2 and 1/2 games.

Nicely done.  But the SB is stuck in the AFC!
