Comments
The Steelers were sitting in the driver’s seat to make the playoffs last year after Week 12, with a record of (6-5) and needing to win 3 of the final 5 to get in. This of course did not happen, as the offense lost any type of rhythm, and dropped their final 5 games to finish (6-10). G Waffle put a new offense in place and acquired many new faces to kick the scoring in the balls. RG3 takes over for a team that averaged only 15 pts per game last year. He will have Le’veon Bell in his back field and AB at WR, and those are the only pieces that remain as starters. RG3 with have some new toys, and 1 familiar one to throw to in Michael Floyd, Chris Givens, and TE Fred Davis. The OLine was also overhauled to help in protecting RG3. New starters at LT, LG, and RG will makes this a more fierce OLine.
The defense will likely miss Timmons at MLB, but they acquired Roberts in FA, you may remember him terrorizing your Steelers last year in Week 5, as well another familiar face, former Dolphins and Ravens LB Dannell Ellerbe. Those 2 will likely split time next to 2nd year star Ryan Shazier. The defense, for the most part last year, was the teams strength, but their age and lack of speed cost them late in the year, and the Steelers have added a lot of young, fast guys, and plan on doing a lot more subbing in and out to keep everyone fresh.
Optimism is high in Pittsburgh, and a week 1 matchup against Cleveland will be a huge measuring stick to see where they are, and where they need to go.
