i vote No,you don't really get punished for trades(Cap Hit Wise) this way and allows you to restock easier,like getting a 3rd for a guy you woulda let walk into free agents.Also think it helps Free agents a little bit(saw more 78-85 guys last madden then I'm used to).

I would say possibly the first season or must be traded before a certain week.

number 1, it is too hard to keep track of, i had a lot of trades in the works last year, that into the midnight hour it was...oh damn, nevermind, he's in the last year of his contract, after 2 or 3 days worth of work.
number 2,the FA pool wasn't any different. if it was, it was because of poor GMing and forgetting to take care of it by the set week, not because they couldn't or didn't want to resign a guy.
number 3, eff SP and his trade rule.
number 4, i like Luigi's idea, not the first part about only season 1, but you'd have to trade a guy, in his final year, by say week 3.
number 5, let's do the Gilmore example, well, you want to trade him, but he's in his last year, so you can't. you resign him, now, you can't trade him for another year, because you can't trade players you just resigned. so you are stuck with a guy, who's tradeable, who you kind of dont want, but you also dont want to just let him go without getting something back, for 2 seasons. by the time you can trade him again, it is 3 years later, and no one wants him.
