So, how do you guys feel about the game so far? Here are a few of my thoughts:
- Normal speed is great. I think they got this just right over the amped up demo. I'm not at all surprised that they toned that done a bit since they've done the same thing since the M10 demo. Fast is good for attracting the casual gamer, but I think the devs and testers also prefer the more realistic feel. Slow is too slow for me, but I know some think this is more "sim" and there'll be plenty of Online Communities (OCs) tuned that way.
- Loving the defense! It's hard to adjust to at first and I still find my self out of position too much, but the fact that you can mix up man and zone now adds so much back to the game.
- I'm still not sure about the tackle button. I need to evaluate more with respect to how much the ratings make that work (i.e. Pursuit versus Tackle ratings to see who's got the better tackling range...or "suction"). If you press it too early, it seems like some players break down and miss the tackle while others just magnetize to the ballcarrier. I haven't played offline yet, so maybe I'm just seeing some lag effects there though.
- Playaction isn't that bad. Despite lots of reports that it's still broken, my biggest plays online have come off of playaction. I'm glad that screens, on the other hand, seem to be significantly tuned down.
- Custom playbooks are AWESOME!!! I love this feature and will have a blast with it....assuming that somehow it's patchable into the online franchise and OCs.
- Running with the QB is a MUST. We really need to abandon the QB movement rules in this league. There really isn't anything more strategic than forcing your opponent to completely craft his defense around fast, shifty QBs like Tony Romo. Tim Tebow should ABSOLUTELY lead the league in rushing IMHO.
- This game is fun. Smile
