MyLeagueManager.net will be temporarily raised to $150 Million for the remainder of the 2012 season. Once we advance to the offseason, the cap will be lowered back to $120 Million.

Why are we doing this? Simple...LM has a limitation in its current system whereby re-signing a player only OVERWRITES the existing contract. Further, the available cap space limits the money available for a new contract.

Example: WR Brandon Lloyd's current cap hit is $1.4M. He is requesting $6.9M to resign. The Broncos need $5.5M available cap space to re-sign Lloyd; however, LM requires the full $6.9M to be available in order to re-sign this player.

By raising the league salary cap, the existing workaround of "zeroing" out existing contracts will not be necessary saving SIGNIFICANT administrative time and avoiding issues with the LM logic that could result in otherwise unnecessary cap penalties.

What do YOU need to do? Also, SIMPLE:

• Keep track of cap penalties from the players you cut/release. Post the name of the player date dropped and total cap penalty on your team page. (penalty is remaining bonus on contact before cutting)
• Keep track of the amount of cap that will become available after the players you intend to cut are released at the start of the off-season. Example: If your team salary is $130 M after re-signing all of your players, then be sure that you have $10 M worth of players that will still be cut.
• Keep track of the increases due to your existing players for next season.
• Leave space for signing your rookie players (guidance [Only admins are allowed to see this link]).
• Leave space for cap penalties that you will incur for cutting players that are not in a contract year.
• Leave space for bidding on FAs.
• JUST LEAVE SPACE. A good rule of thumb is to be sure you're at least 10% under the cap at the end of the season. You may need more or less based on how active you plan to be in the offseason, but ZERO cap room will NOT be acceptable.
• REMEMBER: The salary cap is $120 Million and will stay at this level until after Week Six of the 2013 season (2% increase due for 2014).
