Auto Press rule.
Gents, the auto press or bump and run coverage has become such an issue
that we must take some dramatic step to increase the quality of the gameplay in draftwho.
Before you all read and agree to this remember one thing. Draftwho is more about the great owners, good times and fun than it is about winning. This is what separates us from other leagues.
Playing sim over calling the same plays to get a win should be the norm here. Resorting to redundant play calling just takes away from the whole experience for EVERYBODY.
If playing sim means losing a game or 2 so be it.
Now on to the good stuff. For those of you who don't know auto press or bump and run coverage is when the players automatically move up within 2 yards of the WR and stick to him like glue throughout his route. (I've attached a sample pic). If you don't know what it is look at your CB lining up vs the #1 and #2 Wrs. Some zones also do this but in most cases they release the CB quick enough to still get relatively open. The main issue is cover 2 man in any formation.
Ways around it include Backing off CBs,Calling double safety blitz and going to each safety and changing them to deep zone(might need a rule bout O quick hiking to allow that)
It is up to the owner to be aware of how often they call this coverage.
We want to get a healthy mix of non auto press D calls vs Passing formations. The fact that
you may have plays to beat it makes no difference. It all in the name of mixing it up.
If you call 10 D Pass coverage plays we would like to see 6 of them being non press coverages.
Punishment:
1st time-Benching of a player of next opp choice
2nd time loss of 2nd round Pick and benching
3rd time the boot
We will be doing spot checks on people as we go as we know not everyone like to complain.
