    A few minor updates as discussed with Van and agreed upon by your DWHO LEADERSHIP TEAM.

    Biggest changes are

    * Addition of a quick snap rule,
    * "INT exploit" monitoring,
    * Moving to 1/3 instead of 30% remaining cap penalties

    See the rules below with asterisks and post your concession to abide by said guidelines.


    LEAGUE SETTINGS

    Difficulty: ALL-MADDEN
    ***Quarter Length: 9 Minutes***
    Accelerated Clock: Yes (15 Second runoff)
    ***Advance Schedule: Approximately every 24 hours M-F. Weekend advances as permissible***
    Regardless of Games to be Played.

    SPORTSMANSHIP

    ***We are trying to create a fun and inviting environment for Sim Madden Players. Please respect your opponents and DO NOT RUN UP THE SCORE. Running the ball and running out the clock are generally regarded as best practices when up by 3 or more TDs. Allow your opponent to pause for subbing in backups in the event of a blowout.***

    Trash talking is encouraged and we are all adults. We ask that you keep it respectful and civil.

    QUITTING GAMES
    Quitting games will not be tolerated for any reason. Disconnects do happen and should be handled as stated below.

    If a disconnection occurs you must adhere to the following procedures:

    1. COMMUNICATE immediately via Xbox Live or chat box and let your opponent know what has happened.

    2. The player with the lead at the time of disconnection has the right to determine the next step. As a standard, owners should (a) restart the game and recreate the score as accurately as possible in the event that one team was leading by 2 or more touchdowns or (b) agree to restart from 0-0 if the margin is less than 7 points.

    The administrators do not need to be involved in every decision. If you and your opponent can come to an agreement on a plan of action regarding the disconnection, then go ahead and handle it. If a decision is not clear or an agreement can not be reached then please contact an administrator via PM immediately for resolution on an issue.

    GENERAL DISPUTES

    Any infraction or gameplay issue between opponents that cannot be resolved immediately should be communicated through a PM to the administrators. It is very important that no issues be discussed, argued, or posted in the chatbox or in the forums. This includes trades that have been proposed, approved, or declined.

    ***1st offense: 6 hour ban / 2nd: 12 hour ban / 3rd removal from the league***

    ***Complaints will be collected and posted for the admins every 4 weeks. Negative trends in gameplay will be discussed by the admins and players will be booted if there is consensus that the player is in violation of the league’s gameplay policies.***

    SCHEDULING
    ***You may schedule via whatever communication method you prefer, but use of the scheduling thread is the only documentation that will be used to grant a sub in the event of an AWOL opponent. Games that have not been played or scheduled within 24 hours will be SIM’d at the commissioner’s (or acting commissioner’s) discretion. ***

    If you are unable to play during a given week, please post that you are unavailable and we will find a sub for you. If you’re going to be away for an extended period of time (ie workload, vacation, etc.), let an administrator know.

    Do not play the CPU unless you get approval from an administrator for extenuating circumstances.

    ***If you miss a game without notice, you will be given an invite to return to the league. A second missed game will result in permanent removal from the league.***

    GAMEPLAY GUIDELINES

    Going on 4th Down:
    - Down by 20 or more after the start of the 4th quarter
    - Down by two scores or more inside of 5 min in the 4th quarter
    - Down by any amount inside of 3 minutes in the 4th quarter
    - Please use good judgment.

    2pt conversions:
    Only attempt if the 2pt evens the score.

    Faking it:
    No fake punts or fake FGs in any situation.

    Hurry-up offense:
    Only use hurry-up offense with 2 min or less at the end of a half or if your down by more than 1 score in the 4th QTR.

    ***Quick snap:
    Do not snap the ball immediately when the line is set. A good rule of thumb is to allow at least a 2 second clock run off once the offense is set.***

    ***Goal line sets:
    Goal line offenses are only to be used inside either 5 yard line (i.e. back to goal line or close to pay dirt).***

    ***Players out of position:
    Players must play in their assigned positions as shown in Madden. Some package substitutions are permissible as long as they are not abused. The following substitutions are NOT ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE:
    - CB at Safety
    - LB at DE***

    OFFENSIVE GAMEPLAY

    Passing

    4 wide should not be a base formation for your teams (I understand that if you are down or if its a 3rd and long situation you need to pass 4 wide is what you have to run so that is fine. You should not just come out and run 4 wide for the majority of the game. Mix it up.

    Mix up all calls on D and O. Think during a game after your 3rd slant for a 1st…"maybe I should ease up of this"

    Try to keep the fade routes to one or 2 max a game.

    Running

    I know a lot of people run the ball a lot but we are here to have FUN guys it is no fun to play a guy who has 40 rushing attempts and only 4 passing attempts it is effective yes but it also takes fun away from the game and in real life football you don't see those kinds of numbers. I understand also that if you are winning the game you must run and that is fine but you also have to mix it up at the beginning of the games to even your numbers out a little more. Same goes for passing if you down I know you have to pass to catch up…mix it up.

    Please try to refrain from running draw plays and inside handoffs straight to sidelines. I know that sometimes there are no holes inside and you have to bounce it outside for a attempt to get yards but dont do it consistently if the hole hasn't been there then run a different play instead of keep having to go outside or straight to sideline when plays do not call for that please.

    DEFENSIVE GAMEPLAY

    Mix your defensive play calling up. Run a mix of zone and man, it ok to favour one over the other. Blitzing isvery effective just don't get carried away with it. If you find a blitz play that gets good pressure don't abuse it and take advantage of it try to limit it to couple times a game as there are many of other blitz plays in your playbooks.

    ***ABUSE OF SWITCH/STRAFE/INTERCEPTIONS (i.e. the “INT exploit”) will be monitored and trended to assess conformance to the SIM gameplay guidelines***

    PERSONNEL

    TRADES

    ***All trade must be posted in the “Trades Awaiting Approval” forum. Trades including draft picks must state that stipulation in the thread title. Trades must include age, OVR, and total current cap hit for all players involved. Rationale for the trade must be provided by each side.***

    ***The trade deadline is the end of week 7.***

    Traded players must be kept for at least ONE full season.

    Players drafted in the 1st round must be kept for at least ONE full season

    Free Agents signed in the offseason or first 7 weeks of the season must be kept for ONE full season

    A maximum of 5 traded players are allowed per team per season: A maximum of two traded players may be greater than or equal to 85 OVR rating per team per season.***
    OC is trade admin. He must approve all trades. Owners must propose/accept the trade via LM.


    SALARY CAP AND PENALTIES
    The salary cap is set at $145 M and will be increased at the commissioner’s discretion at the start of a new offseason.

    ***Any player cut prior to the end of their contract will be subject to ONE-THIRD of the REMAINING CONTRACT. Penalties will count against the NEXT season’s cap.***

    ***Penalties must be posted in the CAP PENALTY THREAD and UPDATED PROMPTLY as players are cut.***

    Owners must track their cap via LM. Additional cuts may be required if cap penalties result in a team exceeding the salary cap.

    Administrators reserve the right to change the rules at any point during the season. If a change occurs all owners will be notified and must agree to changes before playing another game.
