NFC South Week 2 Recap Empty NFC South Week 2 Recap

    Saints Vs Lions

I said last week the Saints had to solve their defensive problems before it cost them and that's exactly what went down here. Giving up 21 points in the 4th quarter to allow the Lions to rally back and win 49-41. Good news it is early in the season and they have time to correct that issue. The Lions on the other hand just sent a statement letting everyone know that under this new head coach the NFC has yet another playoff team. Good first win for the Lions and tough first loss for the Saints.

    Muck's Key Stats and Players

    Stats
1.4th quarter is where you see the heart off a team and it's weaknesses. Today we saw a Lions team that showed no quit and a Saints D that lacks the skill to stop a team when it matters.
    2. Red Zone OFF TD's. The Lions got 5 trips with 5 td's. The Saints had 5 as well but posted 3td's with 2'fgs.

    Players

    1. HB Julius Hampton 13 att 87yds 2td's. He continues to impress me in this offense with another 2 td performance.

    2. QB Matthew Stafford 23-34 67% comp 124.3 rating 415yds 5td's and 2int's. Looks like Stafford and the new head coach have a connection look out.

    Falcons VS Eagles

Both teams were coming off tough losses in week 1 and looking for redemption. The Eagles found that redemption with a well rounded offensive attack and ungodly T.O.P. The Eagles held the ball for 3 full quarters in this game and that is amazing. I understand the Falcons put up 21 points but to win a game you have to keep the ball in your offenses hand and they could not do that. The Falcons now fall to 0-2 after a 30-21 loss.

    Muck's Key Stats and Players

    Stats

1.T.O.P 22:33 to 5:27 in favor of the Eagles. If you control the clock this much you are not going to lose the game.

    2. First Downs. Eagles with 19 to 9 for the Falcons. The ability to move the chains and keep the ball lead to Eagles first W of the season.

    Players

    1. HB LeSean McCoy 27 att 121 yds 2 tds 1 fumb. Even though he cough up the ball once he kept that Eagles offense on the field for their first win of the season.

    2. QB Matt Ryan 9-22 40% 35.7 rating 127yds 1td and 4ints. Matt Ryan is a great QB but has to play much better than this to help the Falcons win.

    Buccaneers VS Titans

The Bucs go 2-0 as they put up a good showing beating the Titans 24-6 in week 2. After a scare in week 1 the Bucs came out strong and showed they are still a team not to be messed with in the NFC. They couldn't get the running game going but they played lights out on defense and had a decent game threw the air. I see this teams play getting better and better the more the season rolls along.

    Muck's Key Stats and Players

    1. Bucs D held the Titans under 100 yds in both passing and rushing this week and giving up only 2 fg's for an easy victory.

    2. In a game that looked slow stat wise I have to give this key stat to the passing game of the Bucs. The only real successful part of either offense in this game.

    Players

    1. QB Josh Freeman 8-14 57% 141.3 rating 231yds 2tds and 0ints. Took care of the ball and got it into the endzone twice...what more could you ask for.

    2. HB Chris Johnson 16 att 76yds 0tds 1fumb. Not great numbers but only good thing the Titans had going for them in this game.

    Panthers VS Texans

The Panthers came out horribly on offense last week and the defense saved the day. This week would be no different as the Panthers still struggle to find a flow on offense and look to their D to keep them in games. They held Foster to just 34 yds with a 2.3 avg and even though Schaub completed 70% of his passes they played a bend but don't break type of D that lead to a 10-7 victory. Cam Newton saw some success but the key factor was he didn't throw a pick compared to last week's 5 ints. This week it was 3 lost fumbles that plagued the offense. Even though the Panthers are 2-0 they need to find that drive on offense if they wanna make the playoffs.

    Muck's Key Stats and Players

    Stats

    1. The Panthers D has to be the key to this game as it kept the Texans scoreless for 3 strait quarters to pull this game out.

2.In a close game like this I am going with the Punters Christopher Kohler and Tom Malone. Both kept the opposing team in bad field position all game and are close to being players of the game.

    Players

    1. HB Kyle Timothy 7 att 41yds 5.9avg 1td 1fumb. He scored this teams first and only offensive td so far this season.

    2. TE Owen Daniels 3rec 51yds 1td. Put up the only TD the Texans could muster in a game that was defensive minded.
